"The 2008 Pinot Noir Antica Terra includes some purchased fruit. Dark ruby red in color, it offers up a super-fragrant bouquet of minerals, underbrush, floral notes, spice box, incense, black cherry, and black raspberry. Layered on the palate with dense, concentrated fruit, it manages to remain light on its feet. Elegant, beautifully balanced, and lengthy, it merits 2-3 years of cellaring and will deliver great pleasure from 2013 to 2023.

One reason that Willamette Valley does not grab as much attention as it thinks it merits may be the absence of larger than life figures like Manfred Krankl and Helen Turley in California and Christophe Baron and Charles Smith in Washington. That could be changing as I detect a cult of personality starting to form around the persona of Maggie Harrison of Antica Terra. The litmus test is when you say I’m going to see Maggie today, and people know where you’re headed. Antica Terra’s 2007s were some of the finest of the vintage, but Mother Nature was more generous in 2008 and Maggie Harrison took advantage."
