Forefront by Pine Ridge, Pinot Noir - Willamette Valley 2008 What do Pine Ridge, Archery Summit and Gypsy Dancer have in common?  Gary Andrus, who founded all of them and who passed away last year, way too young at age 63.  So now we have this Pinot called Forefront by Pine Ridge.  But it's all Willamette Valley and it is meant as a tribute to Gary's legacy.  A little bird chirped in our ear and told us that this is supposedly 85% Archery Summit fruit.  Yes, as in the $100+ Oregon royalty.  But this wine is less than twenty bucks.  Except, it doesn't taste like a $20 wine.  This is a seductive wine that is both powerful and pretty at the same time.  With ample structure, but shy of a California Candy Bomb and distinctly Oregon.  This may be the steal of the year.
