aromatic and ripe with a rich and dense mouthfeel. Scents and flavors
of cherries, plums, cedar and espresso. It finishes with long, silky

Beringer, Cabernet Sauvignon - Private Reserve, Napa Valley 1994 -- 94 points - mature, Robert Parker"Beringer's Private Reserve has always been one of my favorite
California Cabernets, particularly since the late seventies. They can
be drunk young, but age exceptionally well, giving every indication of
holding their fruit and evolving nicely for two decades. The terrific
1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve offers an opaque purple color,
a gorgeous nose of toasty oak, and a silky, concentrated texture with
unobtrusive acidity or tannin. The wine possesses layered richness,
remarkable balance, sweet, pure fruit, and a finish that lasts for
nearly 30 seconds. These wines are aged in 100% new oak, and tend to
possesses at least 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Cabernet
Franc. Amazingly, the oak is not a pronounced component in the final
wine, a testament to excellent winemaking and the concentration these
wines possess. Like so many top 1994s from Napa and Sonoma, this wine
will be accessible when released in early 1998, but will age well for

"The Marcile Lorraine wines are named after Craig's mother. They always come from 2 acres located at the top of our estate vineyard, above our Claudia's Choice blocks at around 600-ft. A blend of older Pommard and Wadensvil clones planted in 1983 on a lyre trellis. Usually harvested last, the Marcile Lorraine grapes are partially destemmed and then fermented in 600 gallon open top French oak fermenters. These wines are aged in tight grained new French oak for 12 months, and are bottled unfined and unfiltered." - Winery Notes

Its waxy black cherry, floral aromatics are followed by a medium to full-bodied core of silky black fruits. This expansive, expressive wine is suave, plump, and generous. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

This single-vineyard designate is
predominantly from the densest plantings of Pinot Noir at Chehalem's Stoller
Vineyards and provides great concentration of fruit, with good acid
backbone. There typically is an earthy, sweet cherry fruit core, soft
and broad, with occasional threads of herb.
Stoller Vineyards is the newest, and therefore most viticulturally
advanced, of their three estate vineyards. A south-sloping, 115-acre
vineyard on a 350-acre parcel, Stoller Vineyards commands a dominating
view of the southern end of the Red Hills of Dundee, giving it regular
comparison to Burgundy's Corton Hill. Stoller Vineyards is planted on
Jory soil, with a touch of Nekia, both deep, red volcanic soil types.
In tightly spaced plantings, utilizing varied rootstocks, and drip
irrigation, vines have every advantage on this site. Formerly a turkey
farm, the vineyard is owned by winery partners Bill and Cathy Stoller.

deep red. Complex, musky nose combines black cherry, plum, smoky
underbrush, chocolate and spices. Sweet, broad and deep, with

Well... One of them might have an homage to farming, another a brief history of the vineyard, and yet another may be a story of hope or desire for inspiration... All will bring a smile and insight into Harris Bridge Vineyard and the people involved.
J & J Ostrozovic - Tokaj, 3 Puttony - Slovak Tokay Wine 375ml 1999 -- Tokaj 3 Puttony Select Wine - ranks among the
high quality Tokaj Select Wines. Its sugar content is comprised entirely of
natural sugar that results from the addition of 3 puttonies of hand picked
cibéb grapes per 136 liters of dry Tokaj wine (a puttony is a historic tub
for grape picking). After a complex production process, the wine matures in
wooden barrels in classic Tokaj wine cellars for three to six years.
J & J Ostrozovic - Tokaj, Samorodny Sweet - Slovak Tokay Wine 375ml 1999 -- Tokaj Samorodné Sweet Wine - is made from classic
Tokaj grapes that are partially treated with the Botrytris cinerea mold. The
wine is produced without removal of the cibébs, which impart an amber hue to
the wine, a very specific flavor and a higher natural sugar content. The wine
matures in wooden barrels in classic Tokaj wine cellars prior to bottling.
Opus One, Napa Valley Red Wine 1991 -- 92 points - Robert Parker"Opus One's 1991 is a gorgeously rich, opaque ruby/purple-colored wine
with a knock-out nose of smoke, cassis, vanilla, and a whiff of herbs
and licorice. Full-bodied, with surprisingly supple, concentrated,
chocolatey, cassis, and blackcurrant flavors that ooze across the
palate, this voluptuously-textured example of Opus One is atypical in a
vintage that produced so many backward wines. There is no question the
wine possesses plenty of tannin, but it is admirably concealed by the

Philip Togni Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2003 -- "Not surprisingly, Togni's 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has put on
weight, and is performing even better out of bottle than it did from
cask. Its inky/purple color is accompanied by classic aromas and
flavors of creme de cassis, black currants, blackberries, dried herbs,
smoke, barbecue spice, licorice, and tapenade. The wine is full-bodied,
pure, and concentrated, with firmly structured tannin. While our
culture prizes immediate gratification, these beauties require bottle
age, and I rarely touch a Togni Cabernet Sauvignon before age 8 or 10.
The 2003 requires another 7-8 years of cellaring, and should last for
three decades or more. As a postscript, I want to acknowledge
a wine Philip Togni produced early in his career at Chappellet, the
1969 Cabernet Sauvignon. Recently, one of my dearest friends, Dr. Jay
Miller, was feting his 60th birthday, and brought a bottle of this wine
along with a collection of profound museum pieces. Togni's '69 may be
one of the greatest California Cabernet Sauvignons I have ever tasted.
Every bottle I have had seems to get better and better. This
36-year-old wine tastes like a 14- or 15-year-old adolescent except for
the extraordinary soaring aromatics of creme de cassis, spice box,
incense, and cedar. In the mouth, it's gorgeously fresh, full-bodied,
super-concentrated, and revealing no signs of age. It is both a
monument to California Cabernet Sauvignon and an homage to a feisty
British-born winemaker who continues to turn out some of the world's

Pirouette, 2005 -- "The 2005 Pirouette features winemakers Agustin Huneeus and Philippe
Melka. It is composed of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 14% Syrah,
5% Malbec, and 4% Cabernet Franc aged for 22 months in 75% new French
oak. Saturated purple in color, it offers aromas of wood smoke, earth
notes, spice box, plum, black currant, and blueberry. The wine is
seamless upon entry but a bit short in the finish. Perhaps a few years
of bottle aging will fill it out. Long Shadows is the
brainchild of Alan Shoup, longtime CEO of Chateau Ste-Michelle. It is a
consortium of seven different labels, each with its own star winemaker
who has a 25% share in the brand. The concept is that each "is
dedicated to producing a single Columbia Valley wine representing a
'best of type' that reflects the winemaker's signature style." For the
second straight year, every wine in this portfolio has achieved an

Vintage: The 2005 Pirouette is a wine that reflects the power
and structure of an exceptional vintage. While spring temperatures were mild,
growing conditions were nearly perfect throughout the summer and fall. Mid-June
temperatures were warm, and the heat persisted throughout July and August.
Temperatures cooled just enough in September to ripen the grapes completely
without rushing physiological maturity resulting in a finished wine with great
intensity and ripe, focused flavor.
Winemaking: Pirouette is a wine made in the vineyards.
Philippe works with growers to keep yields below three tons per acres. At
harvest, grapes are picked at perfect ripeness, and then sorted by hand at the
winery. Only the highest quality clusters are retained for fermentation on the
skins for up to 40 days, producing optimal color and tannin extraction. This
wine was aged 22 months in 75% new oak with a selection of barrels from
Taransaud, St. Martin and Ermitage.
Vineyards: The Columbia Valley is a diverse growing region
providing winemakers with the opportunity to add complexity and dimension to
their wines by drawing from a broad cross-section of vineyards. For the 2005
Pirouette, a selection of outstanding Columbia Valley vineyards (48%) were
chosen for their ripe fruit character; Wahluke Slope (24%) and Red Mountain
(9%) vineyards added ripe tannins and flavors; Horse Heaven Hills vineyards
(14%) including Cabernet Sauvignon from Champoux and Wallula Vineyards
contributed texture and a distinct, earthy note to the wine; and Yakima
Valley's Boushey Vineyard (5%) added an extra layer of dark fruit."Winery Notes
Ponzi, Pinot Noir - Reserve, Willamette Valley 2005 -- "Rich
in texture, this harmonious wine shows ripe blackberry and cherry
flavors shaded with pepper and licorice notes, mingling smoothly on the

Ramey, Cabernet Sauvignon - Jericho Canyon Vineyard, Napa Valley 2004 -- "The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Jericho Canyon Vineyard (a 1,730-case cuvee
of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc) has
an inky dark ruby/purple color, a wonderfully sweet nose of espresso
roast, fudge, blackberry, and cassis with a hint of incense and smoke.
The wine is full-bodied, broadly flavored, opulent, and voluptuous, and
that in itself seems to give the wine its current appeal, although I

Ramey, Chardonnay - Hyde Vineyard, Carneros District 2005 -- "...interwoven are notions
of spring flowers, orange marmalade, white peaches, and steely
minerals. Its abundant fruit conceals any evidence of wood.
Well-delineated, with outstanding acidity as well as a layered,
sumptuous finish, it should age nicely for 4-5 years, possibly longer.
One of Northern California's most successful winemakers/consultants,
David Ramey's personal winery continues to go from strength to
strength. Ramey has had the best of both worlds, working in Bordeaux
for the Moueix family, and in California at Dominus, Chalk Hill, and
Rudd Estate. Ramey has two hierarchies of Chardonnays, his generic
appellations as well as his single vineyard cuvees.

grilled nuts, fresh herbs and flowers. Great density and sweetness;
this wine's uncanny depth of flavor already suggests this will be a top
Monte Bello vintage. Really remarkably full for a wine with 12.7%
alcohol: this is routinely done by Chateau Latour in riper years but
it's hard to imagine a North Coast cabernet pulling this off. Lovely
acids brighten the wine's black fruit and floral flavors and contribute
to the impression of firm structure. Palate-staining, extremely long

Wild Rose Vineyard, Pinot Noir - Umpqua Valley 2005 -- "Denise and Carlos Figueroa
established the vineyard in 1995 using "old world" viticulture
practices. Vines were planted 3 feet apart in the rows, individual
planting holes were augered without disturbing the original soil
structure. Average yields were ~1 ton per acre. The resulting wines
